Helium and beverage grade carbon dioxide (CO2) specialist Proton Green has made its first sale of helium produced from its St. Johns Field Phase 1 helium extraction plant in Arizona.

Located in Apache County, the St Johns Field is believed to be one of the largest helium and CO2 reservoirs in North America, with an estimated 33 billion cubic feet of helium and 517 billion tonnes of CO2 in accessible reservoirs.

Production at Proton Green’s Phase 1 helium extraction plant started in July 2023.

Steve Looper, CEO of Proton Green, described the sale with a fixed-price offtake customer as the first commercialisation milestone for the company.

He continued, “We are now analysing our production from Phase 1 to help optimise the completion of our Phase II infrastructure, for which we expect to begin construction in the coming months.”

Just last month (August 2023), Proton Green announced that it has signed a definitive share exchange agreement with Cyber App Solution, through which Cyber App Solutions will acquire Proton Green.

The deal meant that Proton Green could become a publicly traded company, therefore, helping to scale its helium and beverage grade CO2 production in the US.

Looper added, “We look forward to our continued operational execution in the months ahead as we strive to deliver sustainable, long-term value to our shareholders.”
