UsageIs used as arc welding (cutting) of stainless steel, magnesium, aluminum, and other alloys of the protective gas. Also used in steel, aluminum, titanium and zirconium smelting. Argon issued purple glow discharge, but also for fluorescent lighting technology and filling. Photocell, lighting tubes.
PrecautionsHealth Hazards: Normal atmospheric pressure non-toxic. High concentrations, so that the oxygen partial pressure lowering and asphyxia. Argon concentration of more than 50%, causing serious symptoms; more than 75%, may die within minutes. When argon concentration in the air increased, first appeared breathing, inability to concentrate, ataxia. Followed, fatigue, irritability, nausea, vomiting, coma, convulsions, and even death. Liquid argon can cause skin frostbite; eye contact can cause inflammation. Toxicology information and environmental behavior hazardous characteristics: case of high fever, increased pressure within containers, cracking and the risk of explosion.
